A very nice club, It was
a cold and frosty night but very friendly folk, the Steward & Stewardess were
very helpful, did my 3 sets, lots of line dancing and laughter, I actually won
the play your cards game, netted £18.00, all in 1 pound coins, who cares it all
spends, I wish I had a bag full, Ha-Ha,.
Motorhome for a trip to
North Wales & Shropshire.
19th, First port of call
the Wrexham Lager Club, always like to go here very nice people, and I am always
made a fuss of, a very good turn out to say the weather was very bad,
blowing a gale and chucking it down with rain, a great night was had by all,
lots of singing and line dancing, request by the bucketful, Thank you for
everything, I had a Great Time, see you all again soon,
Friday 20th, A 36 mile
drive to the Lion at Westbury, A cracking little gig, had a very good turn out,
one or two new faces in attendance, It has been a little sparse of late , we had
a great meal made by the lovely Belinda, and with not working on the Saturday,
we had our evening meal in the pub, There was also a Birthday party with
entertainment, the entertainment being Phil & Ann who run the Wrexham Lager
Country club, where I was on the Thursday, a cracking night, It was nice to
relax and listen to someone else for a change, They did a great show, mixing
Country with 50s & 60s,.
Sunday, the 22nd, Onibury
Village Hall, used to be The craven Arms
Great Night, It was a
very cold night, but that did not deter the punters, a great turn out, Thank
You, and what a very nice surprise to see my old friend Jim Angell, we had a
little chin wag and caught up with all the gossip Ha-Ha. Lots of line dancing,
in fact Thee was not a song I sang in the whole of the evening the the dancers
were not on the dance floor, must have been on the Sanatogin Wine Ha-Ha
(ONLY JOKING) , Thank you once again, hope to see you again soon.
Monday 23rd a 23 mile
journey up to the Lazyacre Country Club at The Lord Hill Shrewsbury Run by my
good friends Tony, Jean, & Lyne Best, A sell out crowd to see the swing
Commanders and My Good Self, What a talented set of young people, Harmonies
- Instrumentalists - Vocals, and the list goes on and on, I did my little bit,
but I was not my usual self I had the stuffing knocked out of me just 30 minutes
before I was due to perform my Daughter phoned me to inform me that my Great
Granddaughter who is only 2 month old may be blind, they found out by accident
called the nurse, and she arranged for them to see the doctor at the
hospital the next day, now she has to go see a special eye person, I have
forgotten the name Opt something or other, anyway we are keeping our fingers
crossed, It may be able to be put right they can do wonderful things nowadays,
Apart from that it was a great night, and thank you to you all for your support,
and the telephone calls I have received enquiring how thing are.
Other than that it was a
great 5 days out on the road, we had a great drive back and stopped on the top
of the Pennines for our dinner.
Motorhome again for this
weekend
27th, The Stable Bar at
Leadenham, once again a very cold and rainy night but that did not deter
the faithful crowd, it was a full house, Bert was his usual self, making sure
everyone was taken care of with cups of tea and coffee, and making sure they
were all comfy, His good lady WIFE Maria was a little under the weather
with cold, but she welcomed everyone in, Joan (Compere) was her usual happy go
lucky self, having fun with crowd in the raffle, and having a good laugh, I was
touched by the Gesture of Neville, Read, He brought me a little hip flask full
of a vintage whisky, now that's a friend, I enjoyed it back in the Motorhome
after the gig. (Thank you Neville). Also it was a great surprise to see John, he
has not been too well of late, nice to see you back John, I was bombarded with
lots of requests, One being an old Kitty Wells song (How Far is Heaven), I
used to sing this back in the seventies when I first started singing country
seriously and doing gigs, I will try and get the backing track but if not I will
do it as I used to do, just strum the guitar and sing. Anyway thanks for a great
night, I had a ball, Oh by the way I won a raffle prize a little Merecat, a
smashing little thing, I will put it on show by the side of my amp at gigs for
all to see, Any suggestions of a name for it will be gladly received, Ta Ra For
now.
Saturday 28th, Kings
Theatre Newmarket, Sufolk.
What a great little
Theatre & Gig, Run by the Nomads the Am-Dram society who actually own and run
the theatre who are well organised by Gail Baker, Gail is great nothing too much
bother for her to do to make things go right, The crowd is starting to come back
now, after the little split they had, (The least said about this the better),
anyway things are starting to get better and by the next time I go back next May
I hope the Great Theatre will be packed to the rafters again, They have some
great shows for you this year, It is run once a month, check The Cross Country
Magazine it will be Advertised somewhere in there, Probably in the Gig Guide, or
just ring the Theatre for info they will gladly put you right, I had a smashing
evening, it went far too fast, a great bunch of people, thank you for your
support, see you all next may.
